Relationship
As you engage in this mission work, most everyone experiences a deepening of your spiritual connection with God. Through acts of service, prayer, and reflection, you'll have a new and more profound understanding of His love and purpose in your life, leading to a strengthened faith.
Compassion
Through direct interaction with local communities and individuals in need, mission trip members will develop a greater sense of empathy and compassion. They will learn to see the world through others’ eyes, fostering a heartfelt commitment to serving and supporting those with less than they have.
Connection
Working closely with individuals from diverse backgrounds, both within the mission team and the local community, will expand your ability to empathize and collaborate. You'll build meaningful relationships, learn to communicate more effectively, and strengthen your capacity for compassion and teamwork.
What Our Missionaries Say..
Preparing for Your Short-Term Mission Trip
This section covers the steps for preparing your mission trip, including training, accommodations, and the experiences you’ll have in Zimbabwe.
Complete the Missions Request Form. Indicate the season that works best for you, your family, or your team. Once your request is submitted, the Ebenezer Ministries team will reach out to confirm your trip details.
Preparation begins. Over the 6 weeks before your scheduled trip, you’ll meet weekly to receive detailed information about the mission work, Zimbabwe, cultural dos and don’ts, and what life will be like during your 2-3 week trip. This preparation is designed to build your spiritual confidence and ensure you are well-informed about what to expect in country. This may seem intense, but it helps build strong team dynamics and prepares you for the realities of the mission.
Training focuses on prayer, spiritual confidence, and effective communication. You’ll learn how to pray for yourself and others, confidently hear and follow God’s voice, and prepare a “talk” to share during the trip. This might be a personal testimony or a message of encouragement. The goal is to build your confidence in speaking with others about your faith and also to avoid any language that may not translate well.
Expect rustic and authentic lodging. Accommodations in Zimbabwe may include staying with local families, sleeping in tents, or other available options. This immersive experience offers a genuine glimpse into daily life in Zimbabwe.
All Kinds. Each trip varies, but you can expect to visit local orphanages to love and encourage the children, support the Bak2Eden teams with practical needs and teaching, engage with the “Lasting Impressions” camp and ministry site, and work with local orphans, aging-orphans, widows, and more to offer support and encouragement where it is needed
(For more information on who we’ve partnered with, visit our Partners & Programs page.
Enjoy unique excursions. During your trip, you’ll have opportunities to experience the beauty of Zimbabwe with potential visits to Victoria Falls, the African bush, the Zambezi River, and potentially a houseboat dinner with community partners.
(Keep in mind, each trip looks different and excursions are solely based on seasonal availability and the financial support of the specific team).
Participate in a follow-up meeting. After your trip, you’ll have a debrief session with your team to discuss experiences, reflect on the mission, and reconnect with your fellow team members.
Become a Catalyst for Change Today!
As you engage directly with local communities, you’ll witness firsthand the incredible impact of your contributions—whether it’s helping orphans gain vital skills, supporting widows in their journey to self-sufficiency, or improving community resources. This work will not only uplift those you serve but also lead to profound personal growth. With God guiding your journey, you’ll experience a deepening of your faith, develop new perspectives, and cultivate a greater sense of purpose. This trip will challenge and inspire you, fostering a spiritual renewal that connects you more closely with God’s vision for global compassion and service.
