Zimbabwe, formerly known as Southern Rhodesia, holds a special place in the hearts of Ebenezer Ministries’ founders, Sue and John Dee. John Dee was born in Zimbabwe and raised by missionary parents who dedicated their lives to serving the people of South Central Africa. Sue’s family history goes back 5 generations in Africa, when her ancestors pioneered through southern Africa from the Cape peninsula, travelling north to Zimbabwe. These are her people. Both John and Sue’s deep roots and enduring commitment to the country have shaped the mission and vision of Ebenezer Ministries.
John and Sue Dee moved to Knoxville around 30 years ago but maintained a profound connection to Zimbabwe. Since 2007, they have been hosting mission trips to Zimbabwe, each one tailored to address the most pressing needs of the communities they serve. These trips reflect their ongoing commitment to supporting their long-time friends and ministry partners and making a lasting impact.
John and Sue’s heartfelt invitation to those seeking to deepen their relationship with the Father was simply to “come.” This call to action continues to inspire and drive the mission of Ebenezer Ministries. Although John Dee went to be with the Lord some years ago, his legacy and Sue’s passion for the Zimbabwean people continue to guide and motivate our efforts.
